Candlewood Fishing Camp FAQ’s

Candlewood Fishing Camp FAQ’s

What does a typical day at fishing camp look like?

Campers will wake up around 6 am to a delicious breakfast around the fire. We will gather our fishing gear, apply sunscreen and head down to the boats and spend 4-5 hours fishing for trophy large and smallmouth bass. Once we get back its time to work together and make our lunches. After lunch campers will get some relaxation/downtown in their cabins to digest. The afternoon will be filled with swimming/beachfront activities, canoeing, fishing and environmental seminars and cabin vs cabin competitions. We will then prepare dinner together around the fire and start to prepare for our evening fishing adventures as we chase huge bass, fishing top water lures as the sun goes down. The campers will clean up/shower and get ready for lights out around 9:30.

What ages does the camp accommodate?

The camp focuses on campers 9 to 16 years old.

Can I request my camper fish with his/her friends?

Of course!

Can I request my camper rooms with his friends during the overnight camps?

Yes! Cabins have six beds each.

Will my camper catch fish?

Yes! This is a fishing camp located on Candlewood Lake, one of the best bass fishing lakes in the country! Our professional and experienced staff of guides work extremely hard to put every single camper on fish. Additionally, the amount of time campers get on the water (over 30 hours of guided fishing per week!) adds to the success rate of all our young anglers.

Can my camper keep his/her catch?

Our camp is mostly catch and release. We will try and make one dinner with a good catch of crappie and perch.

Can girls sign up for fishing camp?

Yes, of course! In the event a restroom is needed while fishing, we are never far from the campsite.

Can I fish with my camper?

Unfortunately no. This is a kids only fishing camp! We do offer private guided trips through Bassman Fishing Tours. Bassmanfishingtours.com

Do campers wear life-jackets?

Yes and no. By law campers are not required to wear life jackets while fishing. In some areas, they are required to wear them while the vessel is underway. Regardless of the requirements, each guide has properly fitting life jackets for all campers readily available on the boat.

What is the camp’s cancellation policy?

A refundable deposit is required at time of registration to secure a camper’s spot. That deposit is refundable up until 30-days prior to that camper’s camp start date. Refunds inside 30-days cannot be honored. If there is an outstanding circumstance, please contact the camp.

Can you accommodate campers with special needs?

We have successfully fished with campers with special needs, however, additional planning and sometimes additional costs come into play. Please contact the camp to discuss the possibilities!
